Daily Play Call #98

33 But turning around [His back to Peter] and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, Get behind Me, Satan! For you do not have a mind intent on promoting what God wills, but what pleases men [you are not on God’s side, but that of men].

Mark 8:33 AMPC

Be mindful of the things of God

Jesus is rebuking Peter because Peter just rebuked the Lord and told Him that He should not allow Himself to be taken in the hands of the Sanhedrin and be put to death. Peter did not understand God's will. Many times God's will does not make sense to us but we are called to be faithful and trust Him every step of the way. It made no sense for Abraham to leave his family and go to the wilderness without hearing from God where his destination would be. Abraham was faithful and trusted God. It is important that we are seeking and searching after God's will for our lives instead of man's will. God directs our steps according to an eternal perspective and man directs his steps according to a temporal perspective. God sees things that we do not see but if we submit to the Holy Spirit He will show us His will so we can walk in obedience.

This year the Lord wanted me to be obedient and to preach the gospel in the public schools. It was hard to do because I would be sacrificing by not having a daytime job but I had to trust the Lord. Thank God I was obedient because 13 students gave their life to Jesus. There were even some students who renounced their voodoo religion Santeria and decided to follow Jesus. I am glad that I chose to stay faithful to what God has called me to do. Yes, financially it was tough but souls were brought into the Kingdom of Heaven. The sacrifice is never greater than the reward!
