10 Fear nothing that you are about to suffer. [Dismiss your dread and your fears!] Behold, the devil is indeed about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested and proved and critically appraised, and for ten days you will have affliction. Be loyally faithful unto death [even if you must die for it], and I will give you the crown of life.
Revelation 2:10 AMPC
Faithful Until Death
In Revelation chapter 2, Jesus is addressing the church in Smyrna. Jesus says, "I know your works," in verse 9. Jesus says that to every church He addresses. The reason why He says this is because we will be judged by our WORKS.
27 For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory (majesty, splendor) of His Father with His angels, and then He will render account and reward every man in accordance with what he has done.
Matthew 16:27 AMPC
Jesus tells the church to have no fear of the things they are about to suffer. Some of them will be thrown into prison and their faith will be tested. Jesus tells them to be FAITHFUL until DEATH and then they will receive the crown of life. What happens if they were not faithful? They would not receive the crown of life if they did not remain steadfast or faithful. Jesus has many parables talking about servants being faithful and trustworthy.
WE ALSO MUST BE FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH!
