Daily Play Call #75

31 So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples.

32 And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.

John 8:31-32 AMPC

truth will set us free

Jesus says something powerful in John 8. He says that if we keep or obey His teachings we will be His disciples. We will also know the Truth and the Truth will set us free. When Jesus talks about being set free, He is talking about being set free from sin. When we were living in darkness, we were slaves or in bondage to sin. Jesus is the Truth. The words that He spoke to us are Spirit, Truth, and Life, as it says in John 6.

Today, many people are not set free from sin because the Truth isn't being preached to them. Jesus said a lot in the 4 Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It is very important that we know what Jesus says so we can be set free.

There is so much power in teaching how Jesus taught. There is a price to be paid if we teach like Jesus. Jesus was persecuted for speaking the Truth and He said that His servants will also be persecuted. Many people in the faith do not want to go through suffering or persecution, so they stay away from controversial topics that Jesus addressed. Jesus did not run from the questions of the Pharisees. Jesus was not a coward. He told the truth in love and was hated for it.

I have lost jobs, money, friendships, and family members because of preaching the truth in love. This is a price that I am willing to pay because I love God, I love my neighbor, and I desire to enter into the Celestial City. If we know the truth, God commands that we preach it and warn others.

26 Therefore I testify and protest to you on this [our parting] day that I am clean and innocent and not responsible for the blood of any of you.

27 For I never shrank or kept back or fell short from declaring to you the whole purpose and plan and counsel of God.

Acts 20:26-27 AMPC

  • The Bible says that the wrath of God will come upon those who suppress or hinder the truth.

18 For God’s [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative.

Romans 1:18 AMPC

  • Do not hinder the truth and be courageous to preach the Truth.
