Daily Play Call #71

38 For whoever is ashamed [here and now] of Me and My words in this adulterous (unfaithful) and [preeminently] sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when He comes in the glory (splendor and majesty) of His Father with the holy angels.

Mark 8:38 AMPC

Be unashamed of Jesus

Jesus says that whoever is ashamed (embarrassed because of one's actions or associations) of Him and His WORDS will be ashamed of them when He comes in His glory. Being a Christian today is tough because many people are following the ways of the world. A follower of Christ is considered an outcast. A lot of Christian content has been blocked on social media and news outlets. I remember when Benjamin Watson was on CNN and they cut him off because he was talking about sin, repentance, and Jesus. That brother is unashamed and bold for Jesus.

We should always be unashamed and ready to freely talk to anyone about our Lord. I love the Lord and my only desire is to please Him and be with Him forever in the Celestial City. Wherever I go I am looking to share with someone about Jesus because everyone needs eternal life.

It is also important that we aren't ashamed of the commands of Jesus. Many preachers today have skipped over commands of Jesus in their sermons because they do not want to offend or talk about controversial topics. If we look at Jesus' ministry, He spoke on many controversial topics and He was crucified for speaking the TRUTH. If we are preaching the WHOLE TRUTH, it is almost a guarantee that we will receive some type of persecution. Jesus says that if they persecuted Him, they will also persecute us as well.

I remember when I was giving a sermon and the Lord wanted me to talk about a specific command that was very difficult. I prepared the sermon and had no clue who this sermon was for. The Lord had hid it from me. During the middle of the sermon when I was about to talk about the difficult command, one of my closest friends walks in. I said to myself, "WOW." Honestly, I probably would have veered away from this topic so he wouldn't feel as if I was coming at him publicly. I had to pray during the sermon for the Lord to give me the strength. The Lord gave me the strength. There was a fear that I was being tempted with but because of my love for God and him as a brother in Christ, the fear left.

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18 KJV

  • Perfect love truly casts out fear. When we love God and our neighbor there is NO room for fear.
