Daily Play Call #59

14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

Revelation 2:14 KJV

Flee from fornication

The Biblical definition of fornication is illicit sexual intercourse, which is all sexual immorality. For example, when I was in high school and college, I was committing the act of fornication by having sex before marriage. When I was growing up it was encouraged by family and friends as something that was normal. I accepted Jesus as my Savior my freshman year in high school and was baptized. I knew fornication was wrong but I did it anyway. The reason why I did it was because I was told that there was nothing I can do to lose my salvation. I then reasoned in my mind that I can live in sin and still make it to Heaven. That's exactly what I did all the way up until my rookie season in the NFL. The problem was that I did not test the words that were spoken to me by reading the Bible.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21 KJV

  • The Apostle Paul says that those who live like this shall NOT inherit or enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Hebrews 10:26-31 KJV

  • In Hebrews, it says that those who live in WILLFUL sin will have a fearful expectation of judgement and fiery indignation from God because they have counted the blood of Christ as an unholy thing and have shown despite unto the grace of God.

The Bible teaches us that our words and lifestyle can affect our salvation. One Scripture that is blatantly clear on this is Revelation 22:19.

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:19 KJV

Some people teach that this verse is talking about false Christians or people who never truly believed. This interpretation is incorrect because the verse clearly says, "God shall take away his part ". In order for God to take something away, that person must have something to begin with.

  • If these people never truly had salvation then there would be nothing to take away.

I was told that God does not take away someone's salvation. Revelation 22:19 clearly states, "God shall take away his part."

19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.

Revelation 22:19 NIV

  • In the NIV, it states the tree of life and also the Holy City. If God takes away their share in the tree of life and the Holy City, that person does not have salvation. The Bible says that those that are outside the city will be tormented.

15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

Revelation 22:15 NIV

  • It is important that we read the Bible in its entire context.

When I was living in fornication, even though I confessed to be a Christian, I was living in willful sin. According to the Bible, my lifestyle would have prevented me from entering the Kingdom of Heaven. I am thankful for Pastor Sean Moore in 2009, who preached the truth and said, "If you live like this you will go to Hell." He was right!

  • LET NO ONE DECEIVE YOU!

  • YOU WILL REAP WHATEVER YOU SOW!

7 Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.

8 For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

Galatians 6:7-8 AMPC

Struggling VS Submitting

We are called to struggle which is fight against and resist fornication and NOT submit to it.
