Daily Play Call #58

28 Truly and solemnly I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever abusive and blasphemous things they utter;

29 But whoever speaks abusively against or maliciously misrepresents the Holy Spirit can never get forgiveness, but is guilty of and is in the grasp of an everlasting trespass.

30 For they persisted in saying, He has an unclean spirit.

Mark 3:28-30 AMPC

do not blaspheme the Holy Spirit

This is a very tough verse from Jesus. I don't like talking about this because I know what Jesus says is true. If He says this is the only unforgivable sin, then that's just what it is. Let's look at the meaning of this verse.

Jesus was casting out demons and performing mighty miracles. The scribes came to Jesus and said that He was possessed by a demon and that's how He was performing those miracles. We know Jesus was operating by the Holy Spirit. The scribes were speaking evil against Jesus and against the works of the Holy Spirit. This is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Verse 30 tells us specifically what it is.

  • 30 "For they persisted in saying, He has an unclean spirit."

The heart intention of the Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes were completely wrong. They knew better and still spoke evil of Jesus.

There are some people who speak against the works of the Holy Spirit. For example, when people are speaking in tongues or an unknown language by the Holy Spirit, some people who don't understand say things that they should not be saying. Some people say, "they are speaking a demonic tongue or are being used by a demonic spirit." That is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

There are over 7,000 living languages in the world. If someone hasn't heard all of the languages in the world and also in heaven it's best to not say anything if they don't know for sure. We know that some people are possessed by demonic spirits and there can be false tongues. But before we say anything we must test to see what spirit it is, if the Holy Spirit leads us to test.

  • Can they confess that Jesus is Lord? 1 Corinthians 12:3

  • Can they confess that Jesus has come in the flesh? 1 John 4:1-3

In Oneness pentecostal denomination, I have seen many people condemn other Christians for being baptized by a person who says, " I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." Some have even gone as far and called this a work of the devil. LORD HAVE MERCY!

I have found that some people who do this lack basic grammar skills. When someone says, " I baptize you in the NAME of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit," what NAME are they baptizing in? The name of Jesus! Acts 2:38

Also, there is not one Scripture that shows us WORD for WORD what the Apostles said while baptizing people in water. The statement that we must say in Jesus name after everything is wrong. In order for someone to even get baptized they must repent and confess that Jesus is Lord. We also see 2 times in Scripture where 2 Apostles did mighty miracles but did not say in Jesus name.

“But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.”

Acts 9:40 KJV

“The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.”

Acts 14:9-10 KJV

These 2 Scriptures show Peter and Paul doing a mighty work without saying in the name of Jesus Christ. We know they did this in Jesus' name (authority). Some people teach that we MUST say in Jesus name in everything, but we see 2 times in Scripture the Apostles Paul and Peter DID NOT say in Jesus name yet did a mighty work. Understand brothers and sisters the reason why they did this mighty work without saying in Jesus name was because they believed. In Mark chapter 16, Jesus says, "these signs will follow them that BELIEVE." Name in the greek - onoma also means authority. We do everything in the authority of Jesus Christ. Colossians 3:17

We MUST be very careful with our words. Jesus said that our words will JUSTIFY & CONDEMN us. Jesus is not playing when He said this in Matthew 12. He meant what He said! He said this after He told them about blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

36 But I tell you, on the day of judgment men will have to give account for every idle (inoperative, nonworking) word they speak.

37 For by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced.

Matthew 12:36-37 AMPC
