Daily Play Call #26

"...do not defraud..."

Mark 10:19 AMPC

Do not defraud

The Lord Jesus is commanding us to not defraud one another. Definition of defraud means- to deprive of right, either by obtaining something by deception, or by taking something wrongfully without the knowledge or consent of the owner; to cheat. Another definition is to withhold wrongfully from another what is due to him (holding back wages of a hired worker).

This command is for all areas of life. Even in sports, we should not be cheating. The Lord will hold us accountable for how we deal with others in everything that we do. When we play sports, we should play it fair and correctly. Cheating to win will always bring bad consequences in the end. Cheaters may experience temporary joy and victory but they will reap what they sow.

7 Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.

Galatians 6:7 AMPC

This also is for those who are scamming others out of their money. Scamming has increased since technology has increased. Those scammers need to realize that they will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven by defrauding others out of their money. They need to repent and ask the Lord to forgive them before its too late. Temporary gain of money is not worth spending an eternity in Hell.

8 But as for the cowards and the ignoble and the contemptible and the cravenly lacking in courage and the cowardly submissive, and as for the unbelieving and faithless, and as for the depraved and defiled with abominations, and as for murderers and the lewd and adulterous and the practicers of magic arts and the idolaters (those who give supreme devotion to anyone or anything other than God) and all liars (those who knowingly convey untruth by word or deed)—[all of these shall have] their part in the lake that blazes with fire and brimstone. This is the second death.

Revelation 21:8 AMPC

Husbands & Wives

The Bible is clear that husbands and wives should not defraud or rob each other of their marital rights. Marriage is a covenant or an agreement between one man and one woman. They are to honor God and each other in their marriage. For one spouse to hold out on the other is to defraud them and they are in sin.

3 The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights (goodwill, kindness, and what is due her as his wife), and likewise the wife to her husband.

4 For the wife does not have [exclusive] authority and control over her own body, but the husband [has his rights]; likewise also the husband does not have [exclusive] authority and control over his body, but the wife [has her rights].

5 Do not refuse and deprive and defraud each other [of your due marital rights], except perhaps by mutual consent for a time, so that you may devote yourselves unhindered to prayer. But afterwards resume marital relations, lest Satan tempt you [to sin] through your lack of restraint of sexual desire.
