37 He who loves [and takes more pleasure in] father or mother more than [in] Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves [and takes more pleasure in] son or daughter more than [in] Me is not worthy of Me;

Love Jesus more than family

The 1st and greatest commandment is to love the Lord God with all of our heart, soul, and mind. We must love God first and then we love our family. Our dad, mom, uncle, aunty, brother, or sister cannot save us. They need Jesus just like us so we must remember that we have to put the Word of God before our family. Let's see what else Jesus says.

34 Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.

35 For I have come to part asunder a man from his father, and a daughter from her mother, and a newly married wife from her mother-in-law—

36 And a man’s foes will be they of his own household.

• Jesus did not come to bring peace on earth but he came to separate the sheep from the goats. Jesus gives His followers peace in their hearts. John 14:27

• Sometimes our own family members can be against us because we choose to follow Jesus and His commands and they may not. This can cause division.

Today, I am struggling to have a relationship with my dad. He doesn't want to submit to Jesus. I pray for him that he repents before its too late. Pride is hindering him from seeing the truth. I love my dad but I do not love him more than I love Jesus.
