Daily Play Call #12

36 So be merciful (sympathetic, tender, responsive, and compassionate) even as your Father is [all these].

Luke 6:36 AMPC

Be merciful as our father is merciful

I desire to show mercy to everyone. I know that I myself was a sinner turned saint and need ALL of the mercy that God has for me. I know that I must be merciful towards others so I can receive mercy from God. People who are not merciful will not receive mercy from God.

12 So speak and so act as [people should] who are to be judged under the law of liberty [the moral instruction given by Christ, especially about love].

13 For to him who has shown no mercy the judgment [will be] merciless, but mercy [full of glad confidence] exults victoriously over judgment.

James 2:12-13 AMPC

  • Being merciful towards others is also walking in humility. We see that the tax collector was humble because he asked God to be merciful towards him and did not trust in himself.

13 But the tax collector, [merely] standing at a distance, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but kept striking his breast, saying, O God, be favorable (be gracious, be merciful) to me, the especially wicked sinner that I am!

14 I tell you, this man went down to his home justified (forgiven and made upright and in right standing with God), rather than the other man; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Luke 18:13-14 AMPC
